The Blue Suitcase is set in South Africa, a most beautiful country marred by economic and political inequality.

In this biographical novel, the author chronicles life experiences of a young Samuel Levy whose persistent questioning and whimsical interpretations provides context to the unfolding drama.

The tragedies and abuse that clouded his young life fueled a determination to succeed in spite of unfairness.

Sam appears impervious and oblivious to challenges but remains magnetised to his sport and a quest to understand how he and Jane came to be.  The various situations encountered and overcome both within and outside legal boundaries contributed to shaping Sam’s interpretation and opinions about fairness. His resolute perseverance is a hallmark of the story.

Unnoticed triumphs and tragedies bind diverse groups of people as they sheltered, supported and encouraged Sam when he had nothing other than charm and presence.
This entertaining and independent yet thoughtful story further unravels the already tainted veneer which masks current day South Africa.
